He stood 6’2” tall.  With his auburn hair and bright hazel eyes, he cut a dashing figure.  This was Dallas Stoudenmire, City Marshal of El Paso, Texas.  He was a happy go lucky, two gunned son-of-a-bitch who enjoyed a zest for life.  He could play just as hard as he could hate.

Tonight, September 18th, 2007 marks the 125th anniversary of his death on El Paso Street.  While his contribution to El Paso’s heritage aren’t flattering, the series of events leading to his death are an integral part of who we became, and a rich colorful part of El Paso’s Old West History.

So this evening, I do declare the

“Not So Secret Dallas Stoudenmire Society” open, in commemoration of the man and the history.
